REPAIR OF BALLISTIC GLASS
Damage types of the glass

  1. Scratches – grooves that can be, in certain cases, repaired by polishing
  2. Cracks – if there is a crack only on the outermost or innermost (polycarbonate) layer, changing such a damaged layer can be done
  3. Delamination

What is delamination?

Delamination is gradual reduction of adhesion between some or all layers of the laminated window. This means that the interlay (foil) between glass and spallshield, energy absorbing layer or between glass panes themselves, loses the „stickiness“ to bond these layers homogenous.

How does it happen?
In some cases ballistically resistant window starts to separate itself. This may happen from several reasons. Mechanical damage, significant temperature changes, longtime exposure to moist, acids, chemicals, wrong glue or cleaning solvents usage, etc. When delamination spreads through major part of the window, visual field, visibility is lowered and it can be unsafe to drive such a vehicle, the ballistic resistance might be decreased slightly. This depends on how much and where is the window delaminated. Usually, delamination starts from the edge and slowly goes deeper to the center.

What is our offer?

  1. Repair or replacement of damaged, delaminated or aged innermost polycarbonate or outermost impact layer of ballistically resistant glass.
  2. Repair, replacement or replenishment of heating which can be done while changing outermost or innermost layer of your laminate.
  3. Repair or additional dab of the black obscuration enamel is possible during replacement the outermost and innermost layer.

Suggested refurbishment is an excellent solution for elongation of lifespan the ballistically resistant glass for a fraction of expense for a new one.

What is the quality of such a refurbished ballistically resistant laminate?
If there is no other issue with the rest of the plies, laminate fulfills the same resistance level as initially. We provide the same warranty coverage as for the newly produced window.
